Adrian Lanser founded Independence Energy Company in Des Moines in 2008 to develop commercial and industrial applications for renewables technology. IEC focused on non-petroleum oil processing of fuels and edible oils and gasification. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame Law School and practiced law for twenty-five years in Georgia and Louisiana. Adrian served as General Counsel and Executive Vice-president of a small chemical company in Georgia and as President and CEO of Mitec Advanced Technologies. Adrian and Sam Thiessen oversaw the merger of IEC and Ag Bio- Power.
Sam graduated from the U.S. Military Academy and received an MBA from the University of Iowa. After a distinguished career in the U.S. Army Sam was honorably discharged at the rank of Colonel. He founded Ag Bio-Power in 2001 and innovated proprietary technology in the field of biomass gasification. A strong background in chemistry, thermodynamics and general science provided his basis for developing the breakthrough process hardware that constitutes the gasification component of IEC.
Brian graduated from the University of Iowa with a BS. After serving as an intelligence officer in the U.S. Navy he began a career as a serial entrepreneur. Brian founded four start-up technology companies including Decisionmark, a software company which grew to 67 employees. He now serves as Senior Vice President & Entrepreneur-in-Residence for the Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation in Northwest Iowa.
